Breathing new life into old characters...

It happens to roleplayer at some point or another. You find a cool game, get excited about it, build a character you love, get in a few sessions and then...nothing. The other players decide the character you brought isn't fun enough to hang with them. The game moves to slowly and stagnates. Worse, the game dies. So what are you do with that beloved character you spent hours buildling? Simple, bring them here.

As the name somewhat implies, Orphans is a game for characters without a home. Whether it's a character you never got a chance to play, a character from a game long dead, or perhaps even a dead character from another game, you can breathe new life into them here.

Allowed Character Types

This is very much a mixed-bag game. We accept all kinds of characters from nearly every genre of game (mod discretion notwithstanding), provided they are original characters. This is not the place to play your idea of Harry Potter, The Doctor, Walter Bishop, or Fox Mulder.

The Power System

As one can imagine the prospecting of integrating everything from alien overlords to zealous monster hunters can be difficult at best. Many of our characters have abilities above and beyond ordinary humans (don't let that dissuade you from playing an ordinary human if you like). Additionally, each character was built to operate off a different set of mechanics governing their abilities. Since the mods neither have the time nor the patience to integrate every damn power system out there, we created a pseudo-standardized system as follows:

Level 1: A trivial ability with fairly limited use.
Ex: Your character can sense lightning.

Level 2: A minor ability that allows imparts a minor advantage to a character.
Ex: Your character can generate sparks from her fingertips.

Level 3: An ability that imparts a moderate advantage to a character
Ex: Your character can cause non-lethal electrocution with a touch.

Level 4: An ability that imparts a significant advantage to a character
Ex: Your character can cause a lethal electrocution with a touch.

Level 5: An ability that imparts a major advantage to a character
Ex: Your character can hurl ball lightning a short distance.

Level 6: An ability that imparts a potent advantage to a character
Ex: Your character can call down lightning and direct its path

Level 7: An ability that imparts a ridiculous advantage to a character
Ex: Your character is an Electricity Elemental from the Plane of Awesome with the power to make Thor, Chac, Percunas, and Fulgora her whimpering bitches.

We are fully aware that this a subjective system. We require a measure of maturity and common sense from our players and we expect you to use both when assigning scores to your character's abilities. Scores are an upper-bound on a character's ability so the more varied and powerful your character's ability is, the higher score should be. This system is only to be applied to super-or non-human abilities.

Character Sheet

Like powers, disparate systems create disparate character sheets. Thus we have a standarized character sheet that we believe gives a thorough overview of your character. Any character applications not submitted in that format will be dismissed outright.
